In June this year a local Cape Town radio station ran a campaign called the "KFM 94.5 Random Acts of Kindness", where listeners were asked to donate canned food to be distributed to the less fortunate who were heavily affected by the winter rains.
Safcor Panalpina Cape Town employees responded to the challenge and managed to raise money to buy food. The company donated one rand for every rand received. The food was delivered to the Sinenjongo High School, a community based high school in Joe Slovo Park (an informal settlement close to our Montague Gardens offices) and the PTA committee of the school was asked to distribute to the neediest in this community in which nearly half of the learners come to school hungry on a daily basis.
Safcor Panalpina has a long standing relationship with this school as part of our Corporate Social Investment and Learnership programmes.
Feedback from the Principal, Mr. Mahlutshana - "We have managed to distribute the parcels to some families that have learners at our school. Thank you so much for thinking about us".
