This year Safcor Panalpina joins a select group of companies that have been in business for 100 years. In 1910, an era when ships were steam powered and sailing vessels occasionally called at our ports, Safcor Panalpina, formerly Fred Cohen Goldman & Co, began to routinely deliver cargo to clients by mule cart.
In 2010, 100 years later, Safcor Panalpina leads the way in providing seamless solutions to the global supply chain. International demand by clients today is for accurate communication of the whole supply chain movement and the IT solutions that provide it. Challenges in the year 2010 include optimising and greening the supply chain and nurturing sustainable relationships with all stakeholders.
Safcor Panalpina is at the forefront of the freight industry when it comes to industry developments such as customs accreditation. It also works closely with statutory and freight regulation bodies.
Safcor Panalpina’s supply chain offering includes supply chain management and consulting services, system integration, customs clearing, forwarding, logistics and financial services. The company focuses on six main industry verticals, namely: oil and gas; telecommunications, electronics and high tech; automotive; healthcare and chemicals; retail and fashion (FMCG); construction, mining and engineering.
Global partner, Panalpina Global Network, adds significant reach with a close-knit international network of over 500 offices in 80 countries and partner companies in a further 80 countries. This relationship with Panalpina spans almost 40 years.
Benefitting both large and smaller clients, Safcor Panalpina’s extended logistics facilities throughout South Africa exceed 30 000 square metres and are designed to meet the demands of the current operating environment and those well into the future. The company’s state-of-the-art Logistics facility, situated adjacent to OR Tambo International Airport, saves substantial supply chain costs through a faster flow of traffic than conventional warehouses. It incorporates the highest internationally recognised security measures and is not exclusive to airfreight, but can handle intermodal supply chain logistics, i.e. air, sea and road.
It is due to long standing relationships with clients, some of which go back 40 years, that Safcor Panalpina has reached this significant milestone.
